About the Committee
The Mayor and Council have established a non-permanent ad hoc advisory committee to investigate and evaluate the options that might be available to the Municipality for shaping and overseeing a public art program. The Mayor and Council’s decision-making on this topic would be aided by obtaining the input of individuals from the community who appreciate how public art builds and contributes to the community fabric and well-being and who have insights into its durability, safety, and maintenance, would be a vital resource for and in a position to make decisions on the purchase, placement and upkeep of public art in Princeton. Furthermore, the Municipality wishes to explore options for creating a public art program and establishing an appointed group to recommend the selection of artists and acquisition of permanent and temporary public art installations located on property owned or controlled by the Municipality, public facilities, private property that faces the right of way, and elsewhere as may be desired; and they desire to expand public art acquisition through a percent for art program.
