Quaker Road Closed Between Mercer Rd & Quakerbridge Rd

Quaker Road between Mercer Road and West Windsor remains closed. The road sustained significant damage during Tropical Storm Ida and the section of road on the Princeton / Lawrence side of the bridge over the Delaware and Raritan Canal collapsed. The Department of Engineering is working with multiple agencies to expedite repairs, which include the road, the D&R Canal path, the D&R Canal embankment, and the Quaker Road embankment. Given the significant damage, Quaker Road is not anticipated to be open to traffic through to West Windsor for an extended period of time. We will post updates as they are available.

Quaker Road between Mercer Road and West Windsor remains closed.  On or about October 21, 2021, weather permitting, Princeton’s contractor will begin repairs between Mercer Road and the Historical Society located at 354 Quaker Road.  It is also anticipated that NJDOT will begin work near the canal and Port Mercer to rebuild the towpath and road embankment during the week of October 18, 2021.  Princeton will replace guiderail after NJDOT work is completed.

At this time, we do not have a date for Lawrence Township to fill the sinkhole in the roadway.  Once all of the abovementioned repairs are complete, Quaker Road can reopen from the south.
